Bangalore Fort

One of Bangalore’s oldest buildings is Bangalore Fort. Its history dates back to Kempe Gowda. a leader of the Vijayanagara empire which is well-known for the stunning remnants of its capital Hampi. The first person to erect fortifications was Bangalore’s founder Kempe Gowda. His goal was to create a brand-new city on par with Hampi. The original Bangalore fort had nine entrance gates, a trench and was built of mud.
Bangalore was taken by Hyder Ali the ruler of the kingdom of Mysore in 1758. He made the decision to update and reinforce the fort with stone. The fort was further expanded by his son Tipu Sultan who also constructed a summer palace. When the British army captured Bangalore Fort in 1791 he was only able to enjoy his palace there for a brief period of time. Now only the Delhi gate and a few sections of the substantial fortress walls are left.
